JCO Announces Tiered Institutional Pricing Structure for 2005

The Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO), published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), is pleased to announce our 2005 institutional subscription rates. ASCO has long upheld the principle of publishing high-quality content at reasonable rates. For years, JCO has had the least expensive cost per page among journals in the field. Our new rates continue to reflect this tradition.

For 2005, we are introducing a tiered subscription structure whereby institutional type determines the subscription rate. 2005 prices are in effect September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2005. Please note that this new structure is not an FTE or "full-time equivalent" employee pricing model. Click here to see the 2005 JCO Institutional Subscription Rate Card, including definitions of the tiers.

By adopting tiered pricing based on institutional type, we believe that JCO continues to be fairly priced and accommodates institutional goals to provide wide, low-cost access to the highest quality oncology content. All revenues generated from institutional subscriptions to JCO support the overall charitable mission of ASCO to promote high-quality cancer care for patients and to facilitate the delivery of such care by meeting the educational and professional needs of oncologists.

In 2005, no matter what your tier, institution-wide access (a single-site license) to JCO will be included with your paper subscription. An unlimited number of concurrent users at one location will be accommodated. Your patrons will never again be locked out of JCO due to unavailable seats.

Also in 2005, JCO will provide added value by publishing twelve additional issues – known as the JCO Special Series – designed to provide new content focused on molecular oncology and state-of-the-art reviews. The JCO Special Series represents a 50% increase in number of issues published and a 33% increase in number of editorial pages. Click here to see more information about the JCO Special Series.

Soon institutions will receive their renewal information by mail, including type of subscription, assigned tier, and 2005 renewal rate. If your institution works with a subscription agent, your agent will also receive a copy of this announcement. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at jcoservice{at}asco.org.
